Lilley Library at Penn State Behrend is seeking applicants for federal work study student library assistant positions for the fall 2026/spring 2027 semesters. Work shifts will be scheduled around class schedules. Class schedule permitting, a successful candidate must be willing to work some weekday shifts beginning at 9:00am, some evening shifts until 10:00pm and alternate with other student library assistants to work a few Sunday shifts each semester. Job duties include assisting library patrons at the circulation desk, shelving library materials, maintaining the integrity of the library`s collections, processing incoming/outgoing mail, providing basic reference services and assisting staff in other service areas of the library. This position plays an essential role in maintaining appropriate staffing levels during the library's hours of operation, ensuring the continued integrity of the library's collections and facilitating patrons' access to the library's resources and services. This position utilizes and develops the following skills: customer service, communications, teamwork and collaboration, research and problem-solving. The rate of pay is $12.00/hour. Interested candidates should possess a strong commitment to teamwork, along with excellent customer service and communication skills. The starting hourly rate for this job is $12.00. Federal Work Study job performance is evaluated either annually or through ongoing mentorship.
