Job Description

The Opportunity

The International Student Advisor supports the success of Embry-Riddle's international student population by providing immigration advising, regulatory compliance, and exceptional student support services. Serving as a Designated School Official (DSO), this position assists F-1 students throughout their academic journey by managing immigration records, maintaining compliance with federal regulations, and providing guidance on immigration benefits and processes. The International Student Advisor collaborates with campus partners to deliver a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered experience while ensuring institutional compliance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students at the Daytona Beach campus and provide support for designated requests from the Prescott campus.

  • Maintain accurate student immigration records within the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and ensure compliance with federal reporting requirements.

  • Process student requests related to immigration status, including program changes, residency requirements, and other SEVIS-related actions.

  • Coordinate and facilitate pre-arrival programming and provide virtual advising sessions for incoming international students.

  • Review and process F-1 requests for summer camp participants and Ph.D. residency requirements.

  • Provide backup support for Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and STEM OPT advising and processing.

  • Assist with international student orientation, check-in, and semester registration requirements.

  • Collaborate with campus departments to support international student success and enhance the overall student experience.

  • Participate in international student programming and continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and customer service.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the International Student & Scholar Services office.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is up to $43,888. The final offer will be based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.

Required Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in student support, advising, higher education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with SEVIS and F-1 student immigration regulations.

  • Experience with Campus Solutions, Via TRM, or similar student information systems.

  • Experience advising or supporting international students in a higher education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of student services principles and customer-focused advising.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.

  • Strong conflict resolution and relationship-building skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and other computer applications.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive student information.
