Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Security Technician to oversee the installation, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of commercial security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and alarm systems. This role combines hands-on technical responsibilities with project leadership, ensuring successful execution of large-scale commercial security installations while maintaining quality, safety, and project timelines. This position is available as either a contract or direct hire opportunity, depending on candidate qualifications.

Job Responsibilities




  • Lead installation teams on large-scale commercial security projects from project kickoff through completion.



  • Install, program, commission, and troubleshoot access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and alarm systems.



  • Install and troubleshoot access control components including control panels, readers, strikes, maglocks, and related hardware.



  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IP and analog cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), and video management systems.



  • Configure CCTV client software for desktop and mobile devices, including camera management, recording schedules, and video retrieval.



  • Configure and manage access control software, including credentials, door schedules, and access levels.



  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage security cabling including 22/4, 20/4, Cat5e, and Cat6.



  • Install and terminate structured cabling and network infrastructure.



  • Build and organize security equipment racks.



  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks and D-rings.



  • Route, dress, label, and organize cabling throughout project sites.



  • Perform equipment testing and system verification for readers, cameras, alarm devices, and related components.



  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project documentation.



  • Configure basic IP networking components including switches, routers, and port forwarding.



  • Train end users on system operation following project completion.



  • Maintain accurate documentation including labor reports, material reports, and project records.



  • Coordinate with general contractors, customers, and project managers throughout project execution.



  • Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce OSHA safety standards.



  • Forecast labor requirements and coordinate project staffing.



  • Order project materials and manage inventory requirements.



  • Identify blueprint revisions and communicate change orders to the Project Manager.



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.



  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum 5 years of experience installing commercial security systems.



  • Minimum 5 years of experience with commercial access control system installation.



  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading installation teams on commercial projects from start to finish.



  • Experience working on enterprise-scale commercial security projects.



  • Minimum 3 years of experience with IP addressing, networking, and troubleshooting.



  • Experience programming and commissioning commercial security systems.



  • Experience with Genetec, Lenel, Hanwha, Avigilon, and Axis systems preferred.



  • Experience with Software House and CCURE9000 is a plus.



  • Well-rounded experience installing access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems.



  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.



  • Ability to prepare labor reports, material reports, and project documentation.



  • Manufacturer certifications for commercial security systems preferred.



  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred.



  • Scissor Lift and Boom Lift Certification preferred.



  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.



  • Ability to work on ladders, scissor lifts, and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.



  • Must provide and maintain basic hand tools including screwdrivers, tape measure, snips, pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, gloves, steel-toe or composite-toe boots, and tool pouch.




Education




  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Position available as either Contract or Direct Hire based on candidate qualifications.



  • Two openings available.



  • Typical schedule begins at approximately 7:00 AM.



  • Expected work schedule is approximately 45 to 55 hours per week.



  • Open to both local and travel candidates.



  • No routine travel requirement; however, travel candidates are welcome to apply.
