Penn State Behrendinvites applications for a 36-week, non-tenure track faculty position inBiologyat theVisiting Assistant Teaching Professoror Lecturer rank to beginAugust 1, 2026.We are seeking a dedicated educator who is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of scientists.

Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities will primarily include participation in introductory-level biology courses and laboratories.There is the possibility of contributing to upper-level course offerings relevant to the successful candidate's background and the needs of the School of Science.The successful candidate will join a collaborative academic community that uniquely blends the supportive atmosphere of a small college with the resources of a world-class R1 university.

Qualifications

A master's degree in biology or a related field is the minimum required by the employment start date; a Ph.D. in biology or a related field is preferred. We seek faculty members who share our commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship, the holistic development of students, and the core principles of respect, diversity, and inclusiveness. Onsite teaching is an essential function of this job.

The School of Science offers B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, nursing, physics, and environmental science.Many faculty research programs are nationally and internationally recognized, are funded extramurally, and involve undergraduate researchers.Many research and teaching laboratories are equipped with advanced instrumentation/equipment, including confocal, atomic force, and scanning electron microscopes, state-of-the-art molecular biology facilities, a high-field NMR spectrometer, and a chemical instrumentation laboratory.
