The Cell Quality team is a small team within the R&D organizationresponsible for incoming, production and fieldreliability.The group projects focus on mass productionLi-ioncells forall programs, including ModelS, X, 3, and Energy Products. The positionis to supportdaily quality activities andprocessrisk assessment,productionquality inspection standardsandreliability projectionsfocusing onEnergy Products. Candidateis expected to lead or supportquality focusedmultidisciplinarycell-related projects, typically involving R&D, Design or Production organization. Must demonstrate the ability to effectivelyinterfacewithemployees throughout the company ranging from production associates to executiveswithinTeslaand with suppliers. Theengineermustbeextremelyorganized, detail orientated,withstrongabilitytoprioritize andmultitask,successfully collaborate on projectswith a range of business objectives.This person must exhibit the knowledge, leadership, and drive needed to not only challenge the status quo, but also define and execute the optimal path forward.
What You'll Do
- Performrisk assessmentwith process engineers for proper documentation of control plan,pfmea/dfmea,ppap,IQC/OQC metrics along with supporting key production metrics to achieve yield, OEE.
- Provide support to cell quality labon field return cases and necessary reliability tests for validation.
- Assist with warranty risk quantification for all energy products for all cell programs.
- Develop quality inspection tools to support day-to-day production activities including sampling frequency for defect rates and necessary test criteria to prevent containment/scrap.
- AnalyzeField Reliability/Qualitydata for cell related failures and failure modes to predict expected failure rates, affected populations, verify effectiveness of the corrective actions at Tesla and at suppliers.
- Support manufacturing introductions of new in-house manufacturing lines and mass production cell models.
- Produce cogent and intelligible data visualizations, author technical presentations and summarize high-impact technical findings.
What You'll Bring
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent experience
- Quality controlexperienceintest/manufacturing environment
- Design of experiments for process optimization
- Demonstrated competence to organize large projects internally and externally across various discipline
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to break down complex technical topics and deliver visual technical presentations (e.g. PowerPoint) to groups of engineers, scientists, and technicians
- Ability to manipulate and record data into and from databases, ingest and analyze data frommanufacturingdatabases-MySQL, SQL, Python, Tableau
- Experience in running reliability or validation tests that help in detecting cell level failure modes, life prediction models using python/matlab or other softwares

Expected Compensation
$109,600 - $164,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
