Workface Planner III

Play an integral role in transforming project plans into executable field work by serving as a critical link between engineering, procurement, construction, and field execution teams. As a Workface Planner III, you will help drive construction productivity, predictability, and safety by ensuring work is properly defined, sequenced, and prepared before it reaches the field. Your expertise will help eliminate inefficiencies, improve labor utilization, and support successful project delivery through disciplined planning and coordination.

Purpose of the role
Play an integral role in supporting construction execution through the development and implementation of detailed work packages and planning activities that enable safe, efficient, and productive field execution. You will collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure construction work is properly planned, scoped, sequenced, and aligned with project objectives. This role combines technical expertise, field awareness, and planning discipline to support successful project outcomes while optimizing productivity and resource utilization.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining detailed workface planning packages that support construction execution and field productivity
  • Reviewing engineering deliverables, drawings, material status, and construction requirements to ensure work is ready for execution
  • Coordinating with engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls teams to ensure alignment of planning activities and project priorities
  • Identifying constraints that may impact field execution and working with stakeholders to proactively resolve issues before work begins
  • Supporting Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Workface Planning (WFP) processes to improve schedule performance and construction efficiency
  • Assisting in developing short-term and medium-term construction plans that align with overall project execution strategies
  • Monitoring construction progress and providing planning support to help maintain schedule objectives and workflow continuity
  • Participating in planning and coordination meetings to communicate priorities, constraints, and work package readiness
  • Ensuring construction work packages contain accurate scope definition, drawings, material requirements, permits, and execution information
  • Supporting productivity improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance planning processes and field effectiveness
  • Providing technical guidance to team members and assisting less experienced planners as required
  • Supporting safe execution by ensuring planning activities incorporate project safety requirements, risk mitigation measures, and operational considerations

What you'll bring to the role:

  • A degree in construction management, engineering, project controls, or a related discipline, or an equivalent trade qualification supported by relevant industry experience
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience with a degree, or 10+ years of relevant experience with a trade qualification in construction planning, workface planning, project controls, or field execution environments
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, work packaging methodologies, and field execution principles
  • Experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction activities within EPC, EPCM, or industrial project environments
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction documentation, and work package requirements
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, resource planning, and schedule integration principles
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve planning constraints before they impact field productivity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical recommendations on planning-related matters
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and influence outcomes through coordination and planning expertise
  • Experience with construction planning systems, scheduling tools, and project management software
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment
  • A safety-focused mindset and commitment to quality, execution excellence, and continuous improvement
