The home office will be in Syracuse (Liverpool), Albany, Schenectady covering Albany to Buffalo, NY; in Melville covering downstate NY and Long Island OR Millbury MA covering MA and Albany, NY.

About the Role

The Leadership Instructor will play a critical role in the successful delivery and long-term sustainability of the Supervising at Grid program. This role provides consistent National Grid representation in class, supports high-quality facilitation, reinforces learning after each session, and helps build the internal capability required to transition the program to sustainable National Grid ownership over time.

The role will partner closely with vendors, business stakeholders, site contacts, and Technical Training teams to ensure each cohort is delivered with consistency, professionalism, and strong participant support. The Leadership Instructor will be accountable for creating a positive learning environment, resolving real-time delivery issues, gathering feedback, and identifying opportunities to improve the learner experience and program effectiveness.

This includes identifying themes from classroom feedback, recommending improvements, supporting refresher learning where needed, and helping establish repeatable practices that strengthen consistency, supervisor readiness, and continuous improvement over time.

In the initial phase, this position will focus on program administration and implementation support, with responsibilities gradually expanding into facilitation, refresher learning, and course development as the program matures and internal capability increases.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver and support Supervising at Grid classroom sessions, serving as a visible National Grid representative and trusted point of contact for participants and vendor co-facilitators.
  • Provide strong facilitation, coaching, and participant engagement to reinforce leadership concepts and connect learning to the role of front-line supervisors.
  • Partner with external facilitators, vendors, and internal stakeholders to address questions, risks, and delivery issues in real time.
  • Support day-of class readiness, including room set-up, materials, technology, security coordination, attendee experience, and facilitator needs.
  • Lead post-class follow-up activities to reinforce learning, respond to participant needs, and identify operational or content-related gaps.
  • Capture feedback from participants, facilitators, and stakeholders to strengthen continuous improvement and inform program adjustments.
  • Help build internal program knowledge and facilitation capability so the program can transition from initial implementation to sustainable National Grid ownership.
  • Promote consistency across regions by following established delivery standards, communication practices, and program expectations.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Security, IT, business partners, and Technical Training teams to ensure each session is delivered smoothly and professionally.
  • Support program reporting, issue escalation, and lessons learned by sharing observations, risks, and recommended improvements with program leadership.
What You'll Need
  • Experience facilitating leadership, supervisor, or operational learning programs.
  • Strong classroom presence with the ability to engage adult learners, manage group discussion, and reinforce practical application.
  • Ability to support program execution across cohorts, modules, and stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a high-quality participant experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with participants, facilitators, vendors, business leaders, and cross-functional support teams.
  • Ability to gather feedback, identify themes, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen program delivery.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and on-site delivery requirements.
  • Comfort using Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook, Teams, Forms, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to support communication, planning, tracking, and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience facilitating leadership development, supervisor readiness, operational training, or technical training programs.
  • Experience supporting regional or multi-site training delivery.
  • Experience working with external vendors or facilitator partners.
  • Familiarity with National Grid operations, supervisor expectations, safety culture, and field leadership environment.
