Position Overview

The Senior UX/UI Product Designer at Milwaukee Tool is responsible for leading UX strategy and design execution across multiple programs, ensuring cohesive, scalable, and high-performing user experiences across the product ecosystem.

This role serves as a key owner of UX/UI decisions, driving design direction across embedded systems and connected experiences. The Senior UX/UI Product Designer partners closely with industrial design, engineering, and product leadership to influence product direction, resolve complex challenges, and ensure that user experience considerations are fully integrated into product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own UX/UI outcomes across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with user needs, engineering constraints, and business objectives

  • Lead the design of physical and digital experiences for embedded systems across product lines

  • Define and drive UX/UI direction, including interaction models, design patterns, and interface standards

  • Serve as the primary decision-maker for UX/UI design within assigned programs

  • Champion and evolve scalable UX/UI systems, including behavioral patterns, visual language, and interface conventions

  • Influence product decisions through user research, usability data, and human-centered design principles

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex user, technical, and business challenges

  • Advocate for usability, accessibility, and human factors at all stages of development

  • Ensure consistency and quality across product families and user experiences

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other designers to elevate overall UX practice

Design Duties

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to define user needs, product opportunities, and experience strategy

  • Translate insights, technical constraints, and business goals into clear, actionable UX direction

  • Define system-level interaction models, information architecture, and design frameworks

  • Establish reusable UX patterns and standards that scale across tools and product categories

  • Plan, conduct, and synthesize usability testing; drive implementation of improvements

  • Evaluate and refine designs to balance usability, performance, manufacturability, and cost considerations

  • Present and defend design decisions with strong rationale to project teams and leadership

  • Drive alignment among stakeholders with competing priorities or constraints

  • Identify opportunities to improve usability, efficiency, and consistency across the Milwaukee Tool ecosystem

  • Ensure UX solutions perform effectively in real-world jobsite conditions (e.g., visibility, durability, ease of use with gloves, environmental factors)

  • Stay current on emerging UX methodologies, tools, and industry best practices

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, or related discipline

  • 6-10+ years of UX/UI design experience, preferably spanning physical and digital product experiences

  • Portfolio demonstrating advanced expertise in systems thinking, interaction design, and user-centered problem solving

  • Proven ability to lead UX efforts across multiple concurrent projects or product lines

  • Demonstrated success influencing product direction and cross-functional decision-making

  • Strong experience working within complex product development environments (hardware + software)

  • Proficiency with Figma, ProtoPie, Adobe Creative Suite, and related tools

  • Deep understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software integration constraints

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder alignment skills

  • Expertise in usability, accessibility, and human factors design

  • Experience designing for real-world use conditions, including physically demanding and dynamic environments

  • Occasional travel may be required
