Description About The Role:

The Plastic Materials Quality Manager leads quality strategy for 3D Systems' plastics materials business, driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction. This role partners closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Customer Support, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to align quality objectives with business goals. The manager fosters a culture of quality excellence, ensures effective quality systems and processes, and leads cross-functional efforts to improve products, services, and operational outcomes.

What We're Looking For:Oversee Quality Teams at two locations:
  • Lead and mentor the efforts of the Quality Team, including providing a clear strategy and vision aligned with business needs. Responsibilities include staffing, performance evaluations, and career development, including setting employee objectives linked to business initiatives and other key performance indicators.
  • Provides leadership to the Rock Hill, SC, USA and Marly, Switzerland sites in steering all quality management systems activities, including Management Review process, Customer Complaint System, Corrective/Preventive Action System, Training, Supplier Quality, and Internal Audit System.
  • Provides the direction/coordination/education/tools needed to achieve and maintain registration and compliance with the following standards: ISO 9001:2015.
  • Embraces 3D Systems' corporate values, behaviors and employee engagement tools to build a high performing and fulfilling team atmosphere.
Lead Quality Initiatives:
  • Acting as the focal point for communicating customer quality concerns and issues within the organization
  • Engaging with customer support to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Implementation of statistical quality data trend analysis for both raw materials and finished products, routine sharing of results with other materials production sites, and corrective action tracking.
  • Training, developing, and coaching internal resources and key suppliers in continuous improvement methods and tools
  • Developing the Company's quality system and culture of continuous improvement
  • Managing, directing, and controlling supplier quality to identify, measure, communicate, and drive supplier quality performance improvements
  • Establishing and maintaining the Company's quality metrics including the setting of goals
  • Continuously improving the quality of current products, services, and processes by utilizing traditional and emerging analytical techniques and problem-solving methods
  • Conducting continuous improvement events (kiazens) both internally and with key supplier to resolve quality issues
  • Managing all systems related to quality to ensure products and services meet customer requirements.
  • Supports internal and external audit activities, and functions as subject matter expert for product complaints, CAPA root cause investigations and dispositions, and nonconforming materials processes.
  • Acts as the focal point for ISO and Customer Audits of the Quality Management System.
Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and R&D:
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure quality, compliance, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong understanding of design control and project management to ensure compliance.
  • Supports manufacturing, component, and non-conforming material investigations, as well as participate on other designated quality projects.
  • Delivers on shared Quality/Operational goals (i.e. Customer claims, COPQ, scrap reduction, on-time delivery, and process improvements).
Qualifications What You'll Bring: Education and Training
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-10 years of Quality Assurance experience; 3-5 years of quality assurance management is preferred with experience managing groups of individual contributors
  • Current CQM, CQA or CQE Certifications a plus
Experience
  • Experience with new product introduction, processes, associated verification and validation testing, and operating within validated ranges to high reliability products
  • ISO 9001 Certification
  • Minitab or equivalent statistical analysis software
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Oracle 12i
  • Prior multi-site experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent analytical, statistical, and problem resolution skills are a requirement.
  • High level of competency in TQM, Six Sigma programs, DOEs, CQE/CQM preferred, and well versed in Lean Thinking.
  • Ability to establish department goals and coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet quality metrics.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Experience or exposure to 5S Systems is a benefit.
  • Statistical technique knowledge is a requirement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in managing tasks in a variety of projects.
  • Some Travel required.
