Job Summary

The Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is to provide technical leadership and oversight for Legionella assessment, monitoring, and reporting activities. This role serves as the Competent Professional responsible for developing risk assessments, directing field sampling activities, reviewing laboratory results, and certifying final technical reports. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in industrial hygiene, environmental health, Legionella investigations, and regulatory compliance, with the ability to support projects across multiple facilities.

Job Responsibilities



  • Serve as the Competent Professional in accordance with the AIHA Technical Framework for Legionella (2020).
  • Establish monitoring locations and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Develop Legionella risk assessments based on laboratory analysis and field observations.
  • Direct and oversee the activities of Competent Technicians performing field sampling.
  • Determine sampling quantities and locations in coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Review laboratory results, technical findings, and supporting documentation.
  • Sign, certify, and approve final survey reports and technical deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership and quality oversight throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Support Legionella testing, assessment, and reporting activities as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams, laboratories, and clients to support successful project delivery.


Job Requirements



  • Current Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, environmental health, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience performing Legionella assessments and investigations.
  • Experience developing and implementing Water Management Programs (WMPs).
  • Knowledge of microbial industrial hygiene investigations.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and communicating findings.
  • Familiarity with ISO 11731 Legionella testing standards.
  • Knowledge of California Title 24 requirements is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required to support project needs.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree is preferred.


Work Experience



  • Experience performing industrial hygiene assessments and environmental health consulting.
  • Experience supporting Legionella testing, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Experience supporting government, healthcare, institutional, or large commercial facilities is preferred.
  • Experience with technical report preparation and regulatory compliance.
