This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite 1-2 days per week at ACTRI (La Jolla, CA) and remote. DESCRIPTIONThe Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) is an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) institution that provides the infrastructure to support high-quality and innovative translational research. ACTRI's vision is to translate scientific discoveries into improved health by delivering education, training, and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area and beyond. Mike Hogarth, M.D. and Davey Smith M.D. are the principal investigators on ACTRI's CTSA grant. The ACTRI functions under the direction of Dr. Smith, M.D., Director and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Clinical and Translational Research at UC San Diego. The ACTRI Translational Research Hub (TRH) encompasses the Bridging translational Research Infrastructure, Data analytics, and Genomics (BRIDGE) lab & Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB) to advance biomarker services, computational genomics, bioinformatics support and infrastructure at UCSD Health Sciences. TRH fosters translational research community collaborations by educating clinicians, researchers, and trainees in biospecimen acquisition, processing, biobanking, and multi-omics technologies. TRH provides study design consultations for investigators, biobanking services, genomics-optimized sample processing, data management and bioinformatics support. TRH offers services in data analysis and biological interpretation as well as vouchers to support early-stage projects. The ACTRI TRH CCBB Associate Director reports to the TRH Director and provides vision and thought leadership for CCBB. The role is critical for maintaining day-to-day CCBB operations, with oversight of project goals, timelines, and deliverables. Provide scientific consultations for new projects, participate in business development, and provide scientific guidance for ongoing projects, study design, grant writing, and drive development and application of statistical methods for integrated analysis of large-scale bioinformatics datasets. Maintain and develop long-term collaborations. Support and spearheads collaborative grants, to bring in more diverse funding to support CCBB staff. Gives technical presentations to associated research and technology groups and management. May represent the organization as part of a team at national and international meetings, conferences and committees. Generally the role will be responsible for maintaining a vibrant, leading edge vision for laboratory & biobanking support, computational genomics, bioinformatics support and infrastructure at UCSD Health Sciences. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Review and approve recommendations for HPC /Data / CI research, development and technology programs and initiatives. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve research and technology goals in accordance with established policies. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
