Financial Analyst (University of California, Davis; Davis, CA): Develop business processes, management tools, and internal controls for school- wide financial systems. Ensure appropriate controls are established, maintained, and strengthened with the primary goal to standardize financial practices across the school. Ensure the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) Dean's office, six academic departments, VM teaching hospital, and 16 centers/labs/institutes adopt and maintain consistent practices for financial transactions, financial chart of account structure, and financial tracking. Under the general guidance of the Budget Director, review and revise the SVM's financial structure and processes to continuously improve tracking, ease of management, and stewardship of the SVM's resources. Perform complex financial research for departments, centers, labs, and institutes regarding the management and tracking of contracts and grants, self-supporting activities, gifts and endowments, general operations, capital projects, course materials and services fees, and professional fees and tuition. Understand financial operations of each unit and develop standardized management tools and reports using university financial tools to ensure accurate, compliant, and uniform tracking across the SVM. Ensure the Dean's office units, departments, labs, and centers have appropriate financial structure and processes to effectively use the university budgeting tool. Work with Dean's office units, departments, labs, and centers to continuously improve financial structure as needed to account for new projects and updated thinking. Ensure budgets established by departments, centers, labs, and institutes are consistent with the VM Dean's office assumptions and plans. Serve as point person from the VM Dean's office to address issues, problems, concerns, challenges arising from the university financial system. Serve to ensure consistency and standardization in approach across the SVM regarding financial tracking and reporting. Collaborate with Dean's office financial staff as needed to manage school's finances. Consult with departments, centers/labs/institutes, Dean's office units, and VM Teaching Hospital on financial issues and needs related to the university financial system to ensure School-wide systematic approach to financial processes, tracking, management, and reporting. Train staff members and faculty members to use the financial system to ensure compliance and consistency across the SVM. Actively participate and assist with agenda preparation for the monthly financial work group comprised of school financial analysts and managers to address an array of financial topics. Serve as back-up liaison to the campus Aggie Enterprise team. Serve as VM Dean's office expert on the SVM financial structure and university financial system. Under the general direction of the Budget Director, review and analyze external and recharge rate packages submitted to the Dean's office and recommend action. Calculate and analyze Academic Unit Shared Service Center (AUSS-C) rates for campus partners and prepare for processing. Collaborate with school partners to prepare and analyze the Institutional Data Report (IDR) for submission to the Association for American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education (COE) report on an annual basis.
