Performance Health is seeking a Distribution Center Operations Manager to join our team in Indianapolis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily workflows, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting the goals for cost, quality, and safety. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, optimize processes, and foster a positive work environment. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Lead daily distribution center operations, including order fulfillment, inventory management, receiving, and shipping. Ensure efficient and accurate order processing to meet customer expectations.
- Staff Supervision: Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, and development of distribution staff. Manage performance evaluations, cross-training, and scheduling to maintain a productive workforce.
- Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce safety procedures and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Foster a safety-conscious culture and conduct regular audits to maintain a safe work environment.
- Process Improvement: Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. Utilize data-driven insights to implement best practices and streamline workflows.
- Inventory Control: Ensure effective inventory management practices, including cycle counts, stock rotation, and loss prevention. Maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory audits.
- Customer Service: Collaborate with the customer service team to address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to order fulfillment. Ensure timely and accurate order processing to meet customer satisfaction goals.
- Retail & Ecommerce Fulfillment: Lead and support retail and ecommerce fulfillment operations across direct-to-consumer (DTC), wholesale, and marketplace channels, ensuring seamless order execution and exceptional customer experience. Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, and Operations teams to drive accurate, timely, and cost-efficient order fulfillment. Monitor fulfillment performance, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and service levels across all channels.
- Omnichannel Operations: Manage operational priorities tied to seasonal demand, promotional activity, retail replenishment, returns, and service-level commitments. Use order, inventory, and labor data to balance speed, accuracy, and cost.
- Vendor & Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with vendors, carriers, and internal departments (sales, IT, and finance) to support operational goals and resolve any supply chain issues.
- KPI Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, accuracy, cost, and safety. Develop action plans to achieve or exceed performance targets.
- Budget & Cost Management: Assist in creating and managing the annual budget, monitoring expenses, and implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Technology & System Utilization: Leverage Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other tools to optimize workflow, monitor inventory, and manage resources effectively.
- Systems & Ecommerce Integration: Collaborate with IT, customer service, and commercial teams to support WMS, order management system, ecommerce platform, and carrier integration needs that impact fulfillment performance and customer experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred; High school diploma or GED required.
- 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse/distribution center operations
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing retail, ecommerce, omnichannel, or direct-to-consumer fulfillment operations, with a proven ability to drive operational excellence, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control, and order fulfillment processes.
- Working knowledge of order management systems, ecommerce fulfillment workflows, parcel carrier operations, returns processing, and customer delivery expectations.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and distribution metrics.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team, manage cross-functional relationships, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel
