Join our ophthalmology team in Stoneham, conveniently located on Main Street (Route 28) just off Route 95 with free on-site parking. This location includes both Comprehensive Ophthalmology (COS) and Retina services, offering opportunities to gain experience across multiple specialties while working alongside a collaborative team of providers and clinical professionals dedicated to exceptional patient care.
This full-time position offers a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends.

Under the direction of the Chief Ophthalmic Technician and Service/Site Manager, the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides clinical and technical support to facilitate the delivery of high-quality outpatient eye care. This role performs a variety of ophthalmic procedures, prepares patients for examination, and partners with the care team to support an efficient, patient-centered clinic experience.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required and maintained in good standing.

Experience

  • At least one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant in a supervised clinical setting required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Strong interpersonal and patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the care team.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting efficient clinic operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
