The Sr. Trust Officer - Market Leader, under limited supervision, administers larger and more complex accounts, including, but not limited to trust, investment management, agent for trustee, custody, and related accounts, which may include business interests, complex family issues, litigation, estate planning, and advanced tax considerations. Maintains an appropriate balance between mitigating risks and meeting the needs of clients. Represents and promotes the Bank with all trust-related parties including clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, CPAs, and other professional advisors. Provides leadership and guidance to Trust Officers and support staff. Owns the assigned sales goal for the region and implements market specific sales strategy to ensure new revenue goals are met. Duty to retain business and develop existing relationships. Sets the standard for service execution and guides the team on the culture of Wealth Management. Attends industry events and represents the department to enhance the reputation of the Bank to expand new business opportunities.
What you will do:
Proactively administers and manages activities for assigned trust, investment management, agent for trustee and custody accounts, adhering to the terms of the governing documents. Accurately interpret and apply provisions of governing documents consistent with applicable statutes and regulations. Manages all tax and legal activities related to assigned accounts. Coordinates the receipt, valuation, review, custody, and disposition of account assets. Obtains, reviews, and maintains appropriate account documentation according to internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Authorizes discretionary and non-discretionary payments and gathers appropriate backup documentation. Serves on various internal fiduciary/governance committees and project teams as assigned, such as new account acceptance, discretionary review and trust administrative committee to review and create tasks in line with internal procedures and follow through with resolution of actions. Communicates with clients, beneficiaries, care managers, attorneys, CPAs, portfolio managers and other professionals to resolve problems and concerns with accounts. Strong emphasis on cultivating relationships with clients, beneficiaries, internal partners, attorneys, CPAs, and other centers of influence to encourage referral opportunities with a view to new business. Represents and promotes the Bank in civic and community groups and events to enhance the reputation of the Bank and expand new business opportunities. Travel - 10-20 %.
Who you are:
4 Year Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field preferred. Graduate Degree preferred. 10 Years minimum Trust Administration experience required 3 years minimum Leadership experience required. Licensing and CertificationsCTFA or JD preferred, Notary license may need to be obtained. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Extensive knowledge of personal trust administration with 10+ years experience. Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) or JD preferred. Ability to analyze and interpret legal, investment, and tax documents working effectively with internal and external advisors. Effective interpersonal relationship skills and effective communication skills. Knowledge of fiduciary and individual income tax laws. Knowledge of gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax laws and concepts and ability to evaluate estate planning documents. Ability to communicate with people from various socio-economic and education levels. Excellent mediation skills. Proactive approach to problem solving and ability to identify and act on potential liability issues. Strong computer skills including the ability to utilize specialized trust administration software. Ability to grow client base and generate revenue.
