Filling Operator

(Greenville, SC Plant)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift (7:00AM - 3:30 PM)

Pay Range: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Position Summary

The Filling Operator performs all operations required to fill, label and package containers with the final product.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assemble and hook up required equipment in order to fill containers to a specified weight using a specified filter medium.
  • Cleans production vessels as required.
  • Complete proper documentation (such as a fill slip) correctly and accurately. Enter data into computer.
  • Identify product numbers and corresponding batch numbers.
  • Clean up and properly store equipment used. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Under supervision and with proper PPE, the employee will be required to handle hazardous materials.
  • As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety department or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the EHS department.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Clean up equipment and properly store equipment.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Preferred education level: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience level: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to convert various measurements (i.e., gallons to quarts, pints to gallons, etc.) required.
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred and the ability to use a pallet jack.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbally and written.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand, and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls, and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb, or balance and reach above the shoulders.

The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee will normally be working in a well-ventilated, heated production area and may be working near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles in the production area. The employee may be required to work outside in all weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud while working in proximity to production equipment. While working in the office environment, the noise level is moderate.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
