Summary: The Safety Technician II inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Primary objectives are to assist and support the EHS Manager/Director with the administration, development and training to sustain and accomplish department yearly goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Perform various on-site Safety audits along with employees and follow up with corrective actions.
  • Conduct and Prepare incident investigation reports and assist employees with the process.
  • Provide coaching to shop personnel with safety training and departmental inspection audits.
  • Able to conduct training on a variety of Safety. topics for employees at all levels.
  • Review incident and injury data and identify the needs for re-training.
  • Work closely with HR and Operations department heads to accomplish yearly goals.
  • Assist with the development of written Safety procedures by inspecting and reviewing areas, equipment, processes, and work activities.
  • Assist with the coaching of employees on a variety of various Safety responsibilities.
  • Perform job site compliance audits and conduct training under the supervision of Manager.
  • Assist to develop Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Inspect, refill, and control first aid cabinets and safety equipment.
  • Assist and maintain accurate and compliant programs in the EH&S Manual.
  • Coordination of Emergency Response Plan and participation as member of ICS.
  • Audit and track compliance with lockout/tagout, fall protection and confined space
  • Coordinate compliance with the Management of Change Program with Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Calculate and track monthly Safety Statistics for Senior and Cal-OSHA Compliance.
  • Coordinate Safety Equipment Inspections and Tracking.
  • Facilitate incident investigations as needed.
  • Track and ensure closure of HSE Action items generated (incidents, near misses, observations, etc.).
  • Coordinate annual Fire/CUPA inspection of facility.
  • Assist/Coordinate quarterly maintenance of monorails, cranes and chainfalls are completed along with annual certifications and quadrennial load tests.
  • Coordinate required annual drills with Emergency Team.
  • Coordinate biannual facility emergency evacuation drills.
  • Coordinate and maintain documentation of required employee exposure monitoring actives.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science and minimum 2 (two)years' of related experience preferably in a manufacturing/ fabrication industry or equivalent experience and certifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office is a must.
  • Bilingual, Spanish / English preferred.
