Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The mission of the College of Education is to prepare and develop professionals in vocational teacher education and information/office education through effective teaching, the dissemination of knowledge, generation and application of research, and service to the educational business communities. The College is committed to the purpose of preparing educational and business professionals who are both academically and technically proficient. The teacher education programs share the additional purposes of preparing professional educators who are reflective in practice, committed to the intellectual empowerment of others, and guided by the larger democratic purposes of American education.
Job Duties
The College of Education's Department of Interdisciplinary Professions is seeking applicants for three full-time, temporary Exempt Professional Staff ( EPS) positions. The Post-Master's Fellow provides professional leadership in the development and implementation of a sustainable framework for community-centered archival stewardship. This one-year fellowship offers an emerging archival professional the opportunity to apply advanced training in archival theory, community-engaged practice, and program development to strengthen the preservation, description, and accessibility of community-generated historical materials.
The Fellow exercises independent professional judgment to design archival workflows, develop descriptive practices, cultivate community partnerships, and lead strategic fundraising and grant-acquisition initiatives. This position supports ECU's commitment to community engagement, public humanities, and archival stewardship.

Duties included:


  • Program Development - Leads the design and implementation of policies, workflows, and infrastructure supporting community-based archival stewardship.

  • Archival Description - Applies advanced archival theory and professional standards to arrange, describe, and contextualize community-generated archival materials.

  • Community Engagement - Cultivates and sustains collaborative relationships with community partners; provides professional guidance on archival practices and shared stewardship models.

  • Fundraising & Grant Strategy - Develops and executes a strategic fundraising plan, including donor cultivation, foundation outreach, and government grant acquisition.

  • Professional Contribution - Shares project outcomes through presentations, workshops, or other forms of professional dissemination that advance community-engaged archival practice.
  • Other duties as assigned


Contingent upon funding availability
Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science program and one year of experience as an archival intern in a community-based archive.

All degrees must be obtained from accredited institutions.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Concentration in archives and cultural heritage informatics is preferred.
