This opportunity is for an Information Technology (IT) Technician to provide technical support and systems assistance for DBHS staff at the agency's primary offices, field-based environments, and other remote locations. This position supports agency workstations, software, systems, peripherals, communication services, and other IT resources utilized throughout the organization to help ensure staff have reliable, accessible tools needed to effectively serve individuals and communities.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The IT Technician provides first-line support for end users utilizing agency workstations, laptops, tablets, software, devices, systems, and services. This position helps staff maintain reliable access to the tools necessary to effectively perform their responsibilities and support service delivery for the agency. Additional related duties may be assigned as necessary to support agency operations, technology needs, and continuity of services. Support responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 365 applications, and other software utilized throughout the agency
  • Providing support for peripherals and accessories including keyboards, mice, docking stations, security tokens, webcams, signature pads, monitors, printers, copiers, multifunction devices, VoIP phones, conferencing equipment, cellular devices, and other related IT equipment
  • Assisting remote users with VPN connectivity, internet connectivity issues, security certificate installation, and other remote access support needs while promoting a supportive user experience
  • Escalating unresolved or complex issues to higher support levels or vendors when necessary
  • Managing assigned work through the IT Help Desk ticketing system
  • Utilizing effective communication and collaboration with agency staff and other IT personnel to promote timely coordination, accurate documentation, and quality customer support
  • Maintaining detailed records of reported issues, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and follow-up activities
  • Assisting with software installation through Intune, other mobile devise management services, or local workstation installations
  • Assisting with maintaining accurate inventory records, asset labeling, equipment organization, and proper storage of incoming and returned equipment to support accountability, operational efficiency, and continuity of IT services throughout the agency
  • Supporting user onboarding and offboarding processes, account creation and management, password resets, security group assignments, software license assignments, endpoint protection, software updates, and related administrative tasks in accordance with agency policies and security standards
  • Assisting with troubleshooting network connectivity, internet access, VPN connections, and related infrastructure issues to help minimize service interruptions, support continuity of operations, and ensure staff are able to maintain effective access to agency systems and communication tools
  • Assisting with basic software development, code maintenance, report creation, and documentation for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other agency applications
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, knowledge base articles, training materials, how-to guides, and other user support resources designed to provide clear, accessible, and supportive guidance for staff utilizing agency technology systems and applications
  • Providing equipment orientation and initial technology training for newly hired staff to help foster a welcoming, supportive, and positive onboarding experience
  • Conducting one-on-one, group-based, and classroom-style training as needed
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, and professional work environment


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This position reports to the DBHS Office for work.
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.
  • New staff will be on probation for six months.
  • This position is typically not eligible for remote work; however, one day periodically of remote work may be approved on a case by case basis.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience providing information technology support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance; or
  • An associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
