Emphasis will be placed on safety, with the student expected to observe and implement safety practices at all times, particularly concerning hazardous materials and equipment. Furthermore, the student will develop soft skills such as punctuality, responsibility, and accountability, including the completion of time sheets and familiarity with computer diagnostics. As part of their training, the student may assist more experienced tradespeople with complex repairs, such as engine rebuilds, heating and cooling system repairs, transmission work, and routine body repairs. Travel to various work sites and facilities within the District and across the state may be required, and if the student is a minor, transportation will be provided by the supervisor or a staff member during work hours.
