Cleveland-Cliffs is looking for an Accountant to participate in monthly close activities, including preparing and recording journal entries, compiling reports, and completing assigned account reconciliations. Supports the Payroll Department by approving weekly timecards and generating reports. Collaborates closely with the Accounting Manager, Payroll, and various other departments. Must demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned month-end accounting activities, including journal entries, reporting, and account reconciliations.

  • Provide information and support for annual external audit.

  • Track vessel and train shipments, communicate with shipping dock, and manage related payments.

  • Perform weekly timekeeping duties and provide bi-weekly reports to Payroll.

  • Calculate monthly accruals for royalties and compile quarterly payment requests.

  • Cross train with Section Manager Accounting to provide backup for daily/weekly tasks.

  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special projects as requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualfications:

  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines, goal oriented.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Take initiative, professional curiosity, drive to understand the business.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (not required) or related field.

  • 2-5 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry with knowledge of accounting and finance.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
