The Information Supervisor (Temporary) supports the daily operations of the Information Desk at Talley Student Union and provides support for the Witherspoon Student Center. This position offers leadership and guidance to Information Assistants and Information Managers, assists with the hiring and training of student employees, and helps ensure the smooth delivery of services, including lost and found and customer support. The Information Supervisor plays a key role in fostering a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and guests.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with the Administrative Specialist and Student Development Coordinator on recruiting, hiring, training, evaluation, and assessment initiatives
  • Implement a comprehensive training plan for all new hires and add to the learning platform, Moodle
  • Support new employees by leading training "shadow" shifts and providing ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Create shift schedules for Information Assistants
  • Supervise the Information Assistants and Information Managers
  • Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings
  • Foster staff engagement through icebreakers, games, and creative bulletin boards in the lost and found closet
  • Proactively communicate with the Administrative Specialist regarding operational needs and areas for improvement
  • Maintain and routinely update Google Forms and spreadsheets for lost and found, charger checkout, FAQs, and other information systems
  • Oversee the organization and operation of the lost and found, including coordinating lost and found markets
  • Communicate regularly with University Police to arrange pickup of valuable items
  • Provide coverage for the Information Desk, as needed
  • Follow and uphold all established safety procedures
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Administrative Specialist and other NC State Student Centers administrators
