Electrical Field Service Specialist - Industrial Power Systems

Location: East Chicago, IN

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 (based on experience) + Bonus Potential

Schedule: Full-Time | Field & Office | Up to 30% Travel

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Field Service Specialist to support industrial electrical power systems across multiple facilities. This role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement of medium and high-voltage electrical equipment in heavy industrial environments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical professional with strong field service experience working on substations, switchgear, motors, and power distribution systems. This position requires the ability to work independently in the field, make technical decisions, and support critical electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial electrical distribution systems up to 138kV
  • Service and repair substations, switchgear, MCCs, breakers, transformers, UPS, and protective relay systems
  • Work with large motors (induction and synchronous) up to 40,000 HP and 15kV
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance per established procedures
  • Execute predictive maintenance including IR thermography, oil analysis, partial discharge, and power quality testing
  • Plan and lead field maintenance activities and outage support work
  • Provide technical recommendations and ensure safe, reliable system operation



Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology OR 5+ years of medium-voltage electrical maintenance experience
  • Experience working with 5kV-15kV industrial electrical systems required
  • Strong background in motors, switchgear, transformers, breakers, and power distribution systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in field environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems



Preferred Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology
  • Journeyman Electrician background in industrial environments
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., Infor EAM)
  • Knowledge of industrial controls and instrumentation systems



Additional Details:



  • 20-30% domestic travel required
  • Overtime available
  • Work includes field conditions, elevated access, and outdoor environments
  • Must be able to respond to off-hours service needs
