Position Location Policy

  • General Location: Open to candidates within the United States.

  • Hybrid Requirement (if within specific cities): If the selected candidate resides in Cleveland, OH, Buffalo, NY, or Albany, NY, they are expected to work on-site 3 days per week at the nearest KeyBank non-branch location.

  • Remote Option: If the selected candidate lives outside of KeyBank's geographic footprint, the position will be considered fully remote. Available to those residing in the United States.

  • Hours: 8-5pm EST/CST

JOB SUMMARY (Job Brief)

The Leader is an integral part of the Merchant Services team, within Key's innovative and fast-growing Merchant Services and Embedded Banking organization. More specifically, this role supports: Merchant Optimization products, services, and setup such as debit routing management, least cost routing, interchange downgrade management, Level 2/ Level 3, currency conversion, etc.

  • This role will work as part of cross-functional teams on highly visible enterprise initiatives focused on driving incremental profitability via continuous decision point optimization.

  • Success factors include a combination of Business Knowledge (Merchant Optimization Product, Credit Risk, P&L), Technical Skills (Data Analytics Coding, Data Visualization, Excel), and Communication Skills (Relationship Building, Data Translating, Presentation).

  • This position offers significant career advancement opportunities within the Pricing & Portfolio Management Team, Key Merchant Services Product team or Embedded Banking Product team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Business Owner of Merchant Optimization: Own and manage Key's portfolio debit routing strategy across multiple card brands and portfolios. Be the product owner of all optimization products, included but not limited to: Least Cost Routing, Level2/Level 3 Commercial Interchange, Dynamic Currency Conversion, Interchange Downgrades, Card Brand Releases, and support merchant billing.

  • Optimization Product Owner: Own product specific driver-based forecast tools; Monitor the delta between actual, expected, and benchmark performance; Proactively identify Decision Strategy gaps; Work with cross-functional teams to continuously enhance Decision Strategy; Understand business & product strategy; Monitor competitors and industry trends

  • Critical Thinking / Problem Solving: Leverage technical skills and business acumen to provide solutions to complex problems; Understand impact / intersection with other business partners / LOBs; Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities; Data driven mentality

  • Cross Functional Translator & Partner: Proven relationship building ability; Strong interpersonal skills; Can lead the conversation with partners in the business, technology, risk etc.; Sought out to by business partners and team members; Comfortable with influencing and consulting leaders

  • Communication: Strong writing skills; organizes material for brevity, persuasiveness, and impact; Effectively communicates key points to respective stakeholders, with the right amount of detail; Proactively shares information beyond those at the table who may have a need to know; Comfortable in situations where conflict is present; Demonstrated presentation development and delivery skills

  • Leadership: Provides direction/mentorship to junior staff; Role model to others; Ability to effectively work in a matrixed organization with colleagues across various reporting structures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required or equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of Financial Services, Payments or Merchant experience with an emphasis in Analytics, Consulting, or Product, Strategy

  • Business Knowledge (Product, Credit Risk, P&L)

    • Required

      • Experience with the Merchant/Payments industry, and key drivers of financial results

      • Experience with Business Interchange Optimization products, with emphasis in merchant

      • Experience with product and relationship pricing methodology

      • Familiarity with Finance PnL

      • Results oriented, self-starter with ability to work independently on complex matters with minimal supervision

      • Strong critical thinking combined with business intuition and intellectual curiosity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of the Merchant/Payments industry, Debit PIN/PINless Durban Agreement Reg I and II, and key drivers of financial results

  • Extensive knowledge of Interchange Optimization products under FISERV/FIRSTDATA

  • Extensive knowledge of product and relationship pricing methodology

Technical Skills (Data Analytics Coding, Data Visualization, Excel)

  • Required

    • Experience with SAS, or other analytical coding languages (SQL / R / Python)

    • Advanced data visualization & presentation skills using PowerPoint / Tableau / Excel

    • Advanced Excel, power pivot and power query

  • Preferred

    • Extensive analytical coding ability (SAS / SQL / R / Python)

    • Experience with and development of financial forecasting tools

    • Experience leading cross-vendor initiatives

Communication Skills (Relationship Building, Data Translating, Presentation)

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated cross-team leadership

  • Ability to synthesize, create and communicate clear analytical studies in PowerPoint

  • Advanced presentation development; comfortable presenting to all levels; easily adapts message to audience

  • Robust relationship-building skills working with junior staff to executive level management

Physical Demands

  • General Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to corporate office or for industry conferences as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
