Brief Description
As a Production Group Lead, you will play a critical role in driving performance and efficiency across designated manufacturing cells. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for coordinating daily operations, monitoring key production metrics such as On-Time Delivery (OTD) misses and downtime, and ensuring smooth workflow across teams. You'll serve as the first line of support for employee relations, helping to resolve issues proactively while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. In addition to overseeing your assigned cells, you'll provide cross-functional support as needed, stepping in to maintain continuity and momentum. This role is ideal for a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and is passionate about continuous improvement and team development.

Key Accountabilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Train, guide and direct employees
  • Ensure that new employees are safely and correctly assimilated into their position
  • Communicate with management and interface with leads in other areas of the shop and incoming shifts.
  • Ability to understand backlog and other reports utilized to meet production needs, and assist with running backlog when needed.
  • Produce any reports, orders or other paperwork as required by management for assigned cells/areas
  • Troubleshoots and corrects operational and quality issues
  • Ensures the machine is in compliance with operational and safety guidelines
  • Fills in for supervisor when needed
  • Work in constant state of alertness
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers
  • Participate in and/or lead 6S lean manufacturing efforts in order to continuously improve product quality and output to reduce downtime and increase efficiency
  • Regular and predictable attendance and knowledgeable of breakdown/on call procedures
  • Must have mastered the skills needed to fully function with little or no supervision
  • Must set and maintain safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards as determined by Management

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES:

Computer and extensive knowledge of SAP

Wide variety of hand tools and power tools

Lift devices

Measuring devices such as calipers, tape measures and micrometers

Hours worked

Works 10 hour shifts. Some overtime may be required in order to meet production demands.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience and Skill Required:

  • High school or GED
  • Experience in the department in which they are to become a lead person
  • Expert job knowledge
  • Ability to interact with others
  • Ability to take and give direction
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision (self starter)
  • High school level math skills
  • High school level written an verbal communication skills
  • High school level computer skills with knowledge of auto cad and CNC programs
