POSITION SPECIFICS

The Laboratory of Materials in Medicine in the Penn State College of Engineering's Department of Nuclear Engineering at University Park, PA, led by Prof. Dipanjan Pan, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Researcher. The laboratory currently focuses on developing novel materials for biomedical application. Studies include design of nanomaterials, characterization, non-invasive imaging, and in vitro and in vivo experiments of novel materials in biosensing.

Successful candidates should have a background and/or career interest in bioengineering or in electrical engineering with expertise in quantitative measures. Studies require development of wearable sensors and development of high throughput biosensors for infectious diseases, neuropsychiatric abnormalities, and other biomedical problems. Candidates should have some training and working knowledge in the basic techniques that are required for running the project like ELISA, microscopy techniques, nanofabrication, and electro-chemical measurements. The other responsibilities will include overseeing organization and planning for IRBs, helping the PI to secure external grants, applying for independent fellowships, mentoring graduate students in the lab, and writing manuscript.

Candidates for this position should have a Master's Degree in bioengineering with interest in biosensing, imaging and nanomedicine, or related fields, as well as expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Candidates should be independently motivated, creative, and have a desire to learn new techniques and approaches. We are looking for a team player to work within a highly multidisciplinary group of scientists.
