SPA has an immediate need for a Data Engineer.


Responsibilities

The Journeyman Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and ontology models in Palantir Foundry. This role ingests, transforms, and integrates financial data from DoD enterprise systems to support audit readiness, obligations management, and financial reporting use cases. The position requires hands-on technical work within an Agile delivery pod and close collaboration with government civilian subject matter experts and business analysts.

Build and maintain data pipelines in Palantir Foundry to ingest, cleanse, and transform financial data from source systems including GFEBS, DAI, and DEAMS.Design and implement Foundry ontology objects and relationships to support financial management use cases, beginning with Universe of Transactions (UoT) and Obligations and Funds Control. Develop data quality checks, validation rules, and reconciliation logic to ensure accuracy and completeness of ingested financial data.Support integration of Foundry data models with the Advana analytics platform for reporting and visualization. Collaborate with Business Analysts and government SMEs to translate financial business rules into technical data logic and pipeline configurations. Participate in Agile sprint sessions including planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives within the assigned Execution Pod. Coordinate with the Lead Data Engineer/Tech Lead and Solutions Architect on pipeline architecture, data modeling standards, and code review processes.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with 5+ years of experience
  • 3-7 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or ETL/ELT pipeline development
  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks
  • Experience building and managing data pipelines in Python and Databricks
  • Experience working with Palantir Foundry, including building pipelines, workflows, or applications
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience designing and implementing end-to-end data solutions based on user or stakeholder requirements
  • Experience working within DoW environments or supporting government programs
  • Experience working with Advana or similar large-scale government data platforms
  • Experience supporting financial management or financial analytics use cases
  • Experience leading or mentoring data engineering teams
  • Familiarity with DoD financial management concepts including obligations, disbursements, unliquidated obligations, and fund balance reconciliation
  • Experience working in Agile environments and managing work across sprints
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with technical and non-technicalstakeholders
  • An active SECRET security clearance and the ability to maintain it throughout employment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD audit readiness or financial statement audit remediation efforts
  • Experience with the Advana platform, including data registration and analytics integration
  • Knowledge of FYDP budget structures and DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes
  • Experience working with DoD or federal financial management systems such as GFEBS, DAI, or DEAMS
  • Prior work in the Military Health System or Defense Health Agency environment
