EMT Trainee - Lexington Transport

EMT Trainee

• Supports the delivery of patient care in pre-hospital and clinical settings under the supervision of certified staff.

• Assists with patient assessment, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and observations.

• Participates in basic life support activities and learns to recognize and respond to medical and trauma emergencies in accordance with established protocols.

• Maintains equipment and supplies to ensure operational readiness.

• Uses effective communication with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.

• Adheres to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

• Successfully completes all required training program coursework, clinical experiences, and competency validations within established timeframes.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited EMT training program.

Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older.

Licensure/Certification: Must be eligible to obtain EMT certification upon completion of training. Must successfully complete EMT training and obtain certification within a designated timeframe of 8 months from start date of EMT Program. Valid Virginia driver's license and driving record that meets the compliance standard of the Carilion Clinic driver eligibility guidelines required on the date of hire and during employment. 2 years of clean driving history required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations. Strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills are required. Proficient in computer and keyboard skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must be able to work efficiently, manage time, and follow policy and procedures with minimal supervision.
