Shift:Three 12-hour shifts nights, 1900 - 0700 * Base Pay Range: $23.25 - $36.33 per hour, based on experience * Shift Differentials: Additional $2.50 per hour for night shift and $3.00 per hour for weekend shift (or additional $5.00 per hour for weekend program shift if available) * Choose Between Sign-On Bonus -OR- Retention Rewards o Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 o Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000 * Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away * Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000 * Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000 o Note: Details will be provided during the HR interview. ABOUT THE JOB MU Health Care is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Medical Specialties team and provide compassionate, patient-centered care to a diverse adult population. In this role, you will support patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, working closely with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care. You will be responsible for monitoring patient conditions, administering medications and treatments within your scope of practice, documenting clinical information, and communicating changes in patient status to the care team. ABOUT MEDICAL SPECIALTY Medical Specialties is a 55-bed unit divided into east and west wings. We deliver exceptional medical and nursing care to a varied patient population, ranging from young adults (18+) to the elderly. Our unit primarily admits patients with acute episodes or chronic conditions that do not necessitate a more specialized unit. We treat a wide array of illnesses, including pneumonia, sepsis, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, cellulitis, infectious diseases, mental status changes, and substance withdrawal. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION * Interview patients to record their medical history. Measure and record patient vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration. * Prepare patient for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures. * Observe, chart, monitor, and report changes in patient conditions including reactions to medications and treatments. Verify that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately. * Under the direction and plan of an RN, manage patient care according to patient needs. Provide quality care to patients and work with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction. * Follow all safety, security, and infection control policies and procedures. Perform all tasks to ensure the safety of self, patient, and co-workers. * Maintain the standards of nursing care and departmental criteria to assure they are aligned with the MU Health Care Mission and Goals. * Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. * Perform patient care duties and procedures following department policy, established protocol and standard of care, or as directed by the assigned RN. * May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Missouri Board of Nursing LPN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state LPN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state LPNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. * LPN IV Therapy board certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
