Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time



Open Until Filled.



$25.18 to $27.70 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Valkaria/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and may include evenings, Saturdays, holidays, and overtime as needed. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and complex repair of heavy diesel and/or gasoline vehicles and equipment.



REQUIREMENTS: Six (6) years of experience in heavy equipment mechanics, including two (2) years of diesel engine mechanics OR Two (2) years of experience with Brevard County as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic I. Successful completion of course work in heavy equipment mechanics or closely related field at a post-secondary school may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one year (1,080 class hours [1 school year] = 1 year of experience; 120 class hours = 1 month of experience). Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess and maintain during term of employment the following ASE certifications: A7 or T7 - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning T2 - Diesel Engines T4 - Brakes PLUS two (2) additional medium/heavy equipment ASE certifications. Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment a valid State of Florida Public Health Pest Control License, in accordance with the specifications set forth in Florida Statute 388 and Rule 5E-13 of the Florida Administrative Code. Must have ample personal tool inventory to efficiently perform required installation and maintenance services. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
