Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to support faculty and academic units in the transition from Blackboard to Canvas by providing hands-on assistance with course development, organization, and instructional design. Canvas Coaches will help ensure courses meet institutional quality standards and promote effective teaching and learning practices within the Canvas learning management system.
Summer Hours:
Work hours may vary. Primary hours will be between 8:00-5:00 pm Monday-Friday. Coaches may schedule time with faculty after 5:00

| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
Instructional Technology Training and Development (
ITTD) supports faculty and staff in the effective use of instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning. The unit provides training, resources, and direct support for learning management systems, course design, and digital teaching tools, and plays a key role in university-wide initiatives such as the transition to Canvas. |
| Minimum Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience teaching or supporting instruction in an educational setting. Familiarity with a learning management system (
LMS), preferably Canvas. |
| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience (K-12 or higher education); at least 3 years of experience using Canvas as an instructional tool; experience with online or hybrid course design; familiarity with Blackboard and learning management system (
LMS) transitions; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively explain instructional technologies to faculty; experience organizing and developing course materials within an
LMS; demonstrated ability to collaborate, provide training, and support adult learners. |
