Description

The Stoughton Area School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE District Educational Assistant (Health) at Stoughton High School, effective the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. during the school year, plus 2 additional days in August during High School Registration.

Qualifications

Summary:

The Health Aide is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of safety and health protocols for the students and for preparing follow-ups for various health concerns.



Essential Job Functions:




  1. Completes tasks such as conducting head-lice checks, administering first aid and medications, preparing health lists, and assisting the building secretary with clerical duties.



  2. Responds to injury's & emergencies for their designated building.



  3. Works cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and the community. Communicates with the District Nurse, staff, parents, medical clinics, and physician offices regarding student health needs.



  4. Provides for the specific health needs of students, including the dispensing of medications and advanced first aid.



  5. Learns and utilizes specialized procedures unique to the assignment, such as checking blood sugars, tube feedings, and crisis intervention techniques.



  6. Maintains health records and state-mandated immunization records for students as directed by the District Nurse.



  7. Assists the building with registration activities, including the gathering and auditing of health and immunization records.



  8. Complies with the absence and attendance policies of the district.



  9. Tracks and processes student sports physicals and health condition reports to ensure athletic eligibility and safety; provides regular updates to the District Nurse and Athletic Department.





Marginal Job Functions:




  1. Participates in the annual immunization audit and assists the school nurse with vision and hearing screenings and subsequent follow-ups.



  2. Performs all other duties as assigned, which relate to the functions of the job as directed by the District Nurse and/or Building Principal.



  3. Generates and organizes health-related data reports as requested by the District Nurse for compliance and safety monitoring.

Education, Experience, and Certification Qualifications:




  1. High School Diploma or Equivalency.



  2. CPR and First-Aid certification required.



  3. Professional medical designation (LPN, CNA, MA, EMT) or licensed daycare provider experience preferred.



  4. Effective written and oral communication skills to work effectively with parents, students, and staff.



  5. General knowledge of computer applications and electronic health records is preferred.



  6. Must be self-motivated with the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions while maintaining strict confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires some periods of standing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.



Constant (66%-100%) bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting, reaching, and walking in order to perform essential functions.



Lifting:




  • 0-30 pounds constantly (66-100%)



  • 30-40 pounds frequently (34-66%)



  • Over 40 pounds occasionally (1-33%)





Environment: This job primarily operates in a professional indoor environment but may also include some outdoor responsibilities.
