Job Summary :

Serves the needs of patients, visitors, associates, and public through the effective and efficient supervision of the hospital maintenance, electrical safety, biomedical, and preventive management programs. Acts as department manager during absence of Director.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Helps maintain a clean environment, acts as a housekeeper when seeing trash or debris.

2. Performs necessary tests, checks, and service to medical instrumentation as required.

3. Responsible for performing incoming patient care equipment inspections and documentation of the inspections.

4. Maintains the electrical safety and preventive maintenance programs and documentation as required to comply with current codes and regulations.

5. Insures that the bio-medical service contract is maintained and records kept up-to-date.

6. Participates in conferences and contractual agreements with outside agencies who are performing maintenance work for the hospital.

7. Establishes and updates electrical safety and preventive maintenance policies and procedures as necessary due to changing codes and standards.

8. Maintains up-to-date equipment service manuals and other reference materials.

9. Assembles and installs according to diagram specifications.

10. Maintains needed materials and places orders on items needed to repair equipment.

11. Repairs or insures the repair of equipment, removes and replaces defective hospital equipment.

12. Reports any emergency problems or defects to the Director.

13. Recommends to Director of Engineering & Security future needs of maintenance programs, including organization and function.

14. Supervises and coordinates the installation of equipment and interprets blueprints and technical specifications.

15. Keeps abreast of new developments pertaining to division and initiates work simplification and other research projects in establishing better systems and methods of division.

16. Insures that effective working relationships and communications are maintained within the division and with other hospital departments.

17. Specifically oversees grounds staff and all associated provider contracts

18. Maintains all facility related service contracts

19. Ensures constructions projects are completed correctly, on time and under budget.

Education and Experience Required:

1. Five years experience in lieu of trade school certification or college degree in maintenance trade is required with two of these years in a supervisory capacity.

2. Experience in servicing and maintaining bio-medical instrumentation is preferred, but not required.

3. A general knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning.
