Description

The Security Administrator is responsible for protecting the organization's information systems, networks, and data by implementing, managing, and monitoring security controls. This role ensures compliance with security policies, supports incident response, and partners closely with IT operations, Compliance, and business operations to maintain a strong security posture across enterprise environments.

Position: Security Administrator

Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience

Service Area: Twin Cities Metro area

Schedule: 1.0 FTE, Full - Time / Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (scheduled on-call/emergency coverage)

Position Functions & Responsibilities:



  • Administer and maintain security tools and platforms, including:

    • Endpoint protection
    • Identity and access management (IAM)
    • SIEM/SOAR solutions
    • Email and network security controls


  • Monitor security alerts, logs, and dashboards; investigate and respond to security incidents.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans and assist with remediation efforts.
  • Support security incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and documentation.
  • Maintain and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Partner with IT Operations, Data, and Clinical Informatics teams to ensure secure system configurations.
  • Assist with audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Maintain security documentation, runbooks, and incident reports.
  • Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:
Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least one, but preferably multiple, certifications or comparable work experience for the job (CISSP, CISM, SSCP)


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as Security Administrator or similar role
  • Experience using technology including a range of operating systems and programs, including:

    • Microsoft (O365, Azure, Purview)
    • Windows Server and Workstation
    • Network security (Meraki, Palo Alto, Azure)
    • Wireless solutions (Meraki, Aruba)
    • Identity Management solutions including Active Directory, Entra, and Okta
    • SIEM
    • EDR/MDR


  • Familiarity with scripting
  • Strong understanding of Security principles, including authentication, encryption, and security response
  • Ability to analyze security events and communicate findings clearly
