Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Legal Training and Development Attorney. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices.

As a Legal Training and Development Attorney, you will play a strategic, hands-on role in shaping the development and careers of our non-partner lawyers and supporting Orrick's commitment to excellence, innovation, and client service. This position serves as a trusted advisor and resource for aligned business units.

This highly collaborative position will work closely with partners as well as key firm and team/practice leaders to design, implement, and refine training programs to foster professional growth, enhance team performance, and ensure alignment with our strategic business objectives. The Legal Training and Development Attorney will advocate for best practices and help drive a collaborative culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with partners on the Business Unit Training Council on Business Unit/Practice Group-specific training strategy and vision
  • Drives Business Unit/Practice Group training development, execution and implementation, including seeking input from Senior Practice Manager and training partners regarding subject matter experts and/or presenters
  • Leads monthly Training Council meetings for the Business Unit
  • Works with key stakeholders, including Partners, Senior Practice Manager, Lawyer Development, Innovation Team and across Business Units to assess training needs, inform training strategy and create relevant training programs
  • Track individual associate training, aligning with benchmarks, in collaboration with the Senior Practice Manager and Lawyer Development
  • Collaborate with the Innovation team, including Innovation Attorneys, to champion and incorporate legal technology, Gen AI, smart resources, and other innovative solutions into the training curriculum. Innovation Team to champion and incorporate technology/AI training priorities
  • Assesses and maintains Business Unit training inventory on Orrick's learning platform
  • Works collaboratively with other Business Unit Training Leads and firmwide resources to identify synergies and sector-wide training
  • Conducts regular meetings with aligned groups to assess needs

Qualifications

  • Experienced attorney with 7+ years of substantive proficiency
  • Strong Project Management and presentation skills
  • Legal and workplace technology fluency
  • Ideal candidate is an experienced Orrick or Big Law attorney

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $140,000 - $210,000
  • Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $130,000 - $175,000
  • All Other US Locations $120,000 - $160,000

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
