Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist or Engineer - Sector/Industry Lead who is recognized within the industry as a leader in chemical management and/or product stewardship and provides strategic scientific leadership to help global organizations navigate a rapidly evolving and complex regulatory landscape. The role is designed for a senior technical expert who wishes to serve in a leadership role, demonstrating and guiding staff to use scholarly approaches to answer complex chemical exposure and health risk-related questions.Our vision is to engage with the most intellectually curious scientists to provide data-driven solutions to our clients.We approach each project in an innovative, collaborative and fast-paced environment to meet client needs. This individual may report to ourofficesinHerndon, VA and Pittsburg PA.

Our multidisciplinary expertise includes engineering, exposure science, industrial hygiene, toxicology, applied risk assessment, risk communication, regulatory engagement, supply chain management, product stewardship and business strategy. Most projects encompass the prevention, mitigation and management of chemical exposure in the workplace, community, or via consumer products. Candidates who apply should demonstrate a successful track record with managing an existing product stewardship practice. They must possess proficient writing skills for technical and lay audiences. They should desire to work in a writing-intensive environment as demonstrated by peer review publications and/or recognized involvement in authoring national/international chemical policy and regulations. The role requires experience managing and mentoring junior level staff and an ability to balance client and staff management demands with development of future business. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with in-depth understanding of emerging and current trends, technologies, and regulations needed to develop innovative solutions and drive measurable impact across chemical product life-cycle management for private sector and government entities.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as a recognized subject-matter expert in chemical management and product stewardship
  • Provide strategic scientific guidance to global organizations on chemical risk, management, compliance, and sustainability
  • Lead and contribute to advanced analytical evaluations supporting product stewardship, regulatory strategy, and risk management
  • Lead the production of technical products, presentations, and proposals to include budget, schedule, and quality control aspects
  • Interpret and apply global chemical regulations and standards, translating requirements into actionable business strategies
  • Advise on chemical life-cycle management, safer alternatives, and sustainable manufacturing practices
  • Support development of compliance strategies in response to dynamic and evolving regulatory frameworks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including regulatory, toxicology, engineering, risk management and corporate strategy and governance
  • Critically evaluate and provide constructive feedback for published scientific papers and reports in the environmental sciences, industrial hygiene, toxicology, epidemiology, and occupational medicine fields based on industry standards and compliance
  • Contribute to thought leadership through technical publications, industry engagement, and client presentations
  • Define and implement strategic direction, aligning initiatives with organizational SHS goals and capabilities
  • Execute a business development strategy to identify, pursue, and win new work across the sector
  • Leverage a broad chemical industry network to establish and maintain high-value relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders in-person and/or electronically

Qualifications

  • MS or Doctoral degree (preferred) in engineering, toxicology, pharmacology, epidemiology (cross disciplinary with MBA, MPH or JD desirable)
  • Working fluency across the product stewardship value chain, including exposure and risk assessment, regulatory affairs, and chemical supply chain management
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in chemical manufacturing, product stewardship, or regulatory management or advisory roles
  • Demonstrated recognition as an industry leader in chemical product stewardship or chemical management
  • Strong understanding of global chemical regulatory frameworks and product life-cycle requirements
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills
  • Proven track record in business development, including identifying, pursuing and winning high-value work
  • 10+ years of proven leadership experience managing highly technical teams and complex projects
  • Must be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, resourceful, adaptable, and effective with time management
  • Aptitude for multi-tasking among various projects with competing and dynamic deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Current and future U.S. work authorization is required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and motor vehicle records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising multinational or global organizations on chemical stewardship challenges
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international chemical regulations (e.g., TSCA, REACH, GHS, global product stewardship standards)
  • Professional certifications or credentials related to chemical management, sustainability, or regulatory affairs
  • Active participation in industry organizations

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
