Job Summary
The Firearms Range Master Supervisor oversees daily firearms range operations and supervises personnel supporting training activities. This position is responsible for ensuring firing ranges, target systems, and support equipment are properly prepared, maintained, and operated in accordance with established procedures. The supervisor works closely with instructors and program leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and effective firearms training support.
**CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD**
Role and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of firearms range personnel, including rangemasters and laborers.
- Ensure firing ranges are prepared and operational prior to scheduled training events.
- Oversee setup, maintenance, and breakdown of targets, barricades, and range equipment.
- Coordinate with instructors and training staff to support firearms training schedules.
- Monitor range operations to ensure compliance with established safety procedures and range protocols.
- Ensure proper accountability, storage, and handling of range equipment and training materials.
- Conduct inspections of range facilities, equipment, and target systems to ensure readiness and serviceability.
- Identify and address safety concerns, operational issues, and equipment deficiencies.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to assigned personnel to ensure performance standards are met.
- Support inventory tracking and logistics coordination for range supplies and consumables.
- Maintain communication with program leadership regarding range operations and support requirements.
- Assist in developing and improving processes to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Required Qualifications and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience supporting firearms ranges, training environments, or similar operational settings.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience required.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to enforce safety procedures and operational standards in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and personnel simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications and Education
- Prior experience supervising personnel in a firearms training or range environment.
- Experience supporting law enforcement or military training programs.
- Familiarity with range operations, target systems, and training logistics.
- Experience working in a government contract environment.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required FLETC access credentials.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily outdoors on firearms training ranges and associated support areas.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout range facilities.
- Regular oversight of active firearms training environments.
- Exposure to loud noise environments; hearing protection is required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull range equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Exposure to moving equipment and dynamic training environments.
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Travel: 0-15%
