Rutgers School of Public Health (
SPH) is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant in the NJ Safe Schools Program (
NJSS); and, Environmental and Occupational Health and Justice, located in Piscataway, NJ. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director, contributes to work with data management systems. Performs data analyses to facilitate the accomplishment of applicable survey-based and training courses program evaluation related to research objectives. Temporary Research Assistant(s) will also provide various programmatic activities in support of new proposals and existing studies.
Duties include:
- Assists the PI and NJSS Assistant Director with the development of new and existing programs and research studies.
- Contributes to overseeing de-identified data management systems for primary data collection and secondary data analyses(data from public government agency sources). Works with faculty/PI and NJSS staff to help setup, create, and integratedata collection projects and surveys into workflow of data management.
- Prepares datasets and provide supporting documentation for statistical analysis.

| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Bachelor's Degree
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Prior data analysis experience (in design and primary and/or secondary research data collection-to-management and analysis).
- Knowledge of database types; research methodologies; hypothesis testing, primary data capture, manipulation, and coding.
- Knowledge (basic level) of state and federal agencies concerning worker and public safety and health.
- Proficient use of computers and data management and analysis software (Microsoft Office and SAS, SPSS or similar like R).
- Must have a flexible schedule that allows for variable shifts throughout the week during morning and afternoon/early evening.
