Could you be the fulltime Composite Mechanic in Los Angeles, CA we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical expertise in a handson, unionized maintenance environment. You'll work alongside skilled, safetydriven and collaborative teammates. In this role, you'll help ensure our locomotives and passenger equipment remain safe, reliable and compliant-directly supporting the daily performance of rail services across Los Angeles.

Daytoday, you'll work with maintenance, shop and operations teams to diagnose mechanical issues, complete component repairs and carry out FRAcompliant inspections. You'll perform troubleshooting on engines, air brake systems, running gear and related equipment, and you'll keep accurate digital maintenance records in accordance with established procedures.

You'll specifically take care of inspecting, maintaining and repairing dieselpowered rail equipment while interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics and service instructions to complete highquality repairs.

We'll look to you for:



  • Delivering accurate, safe mechanical repairs and inspections in compliance with FRA and railroad rules.
  • Diagnosing equipment malfunctions and restoring components to operational condition.
  • Completing digital work orders in the assetmanagement system.
  • Assisting with safe movement of locomotives or passenger coaches when required.
  • Supporting a strong safety culture and contributing to continuous improvement.



All about you

  • A highschool diploma/GED and interest in mechanical or electrical work.
  • Experience or understanding of mechanical maintenance, equipment repair or related technical fields.
  • Knowledge of reading blueprints, mechanical drawings or circuit schematics.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical theory.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal safety instructions.
  • A valid driver's license with no alcohol/substancerelated moving violations in the past 36 months.
  • Willingness to obtain Qualified Maintenance Person (QMP) designation.
  • Basic proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office tools.



Union Conditions & Employment Requirements



  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and union membership is required as a condition of employment.
  • Work hours may include nonstandard schedules, overtime, weekends, holidays and various shifts based on seniority and operational needs.
  • Candidates must meet all safety requirements, including wearing PPE (hard hat, safetytoe boots, hearing and eye protection).
  • You must pass all required assessments, including skills evaluations applicable under the CBA.
  • You must pass a postoffer medical exam, including drug and alcohol testing, and remain subject to random testing per certification requirements.
  • Active employees must complete the required timeinposition requirement before being eligible to bid on another role, per the CBA.
  • Physical requirements include:


    • Lifting up to 70 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
    • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tight spaces
    • Walking long distances over uneven terrain
    • Adequate hearing and vision for safetycritical work
    • Exposure to heat, noise and heavyequipment environments

Hourly Rate: $28.68/hour (per applicable CBA wage schedule).
