TITLE: Utility



POSITION OBJECTIVE: Assists Maintenance Mechanics in repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems of industrial establishment.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Six months to one year experience and/or training preferred
  • Language skills: ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. English is the primary spoken and written language of the facility.
  • Reasoning ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.


  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
  • Ford Truck Certification preferred



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist other maintenance personnel as required; furnishes them with materials, tools and supplies.


  • Perform equipment maintenance tasks such as grease, lube, check and add fluids, clean and/or change filters.
  • Use hand and power tools, electric drills, presses and grinders to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Bend, cut, and thread pipe, cut openings in walls, ceilings and trim of building.
  • Clear clogged drains and replaces plumbing fixtures
  • Abide by all company policies including, but not limited to, safety, environmental and plant rules; practices good housekeeping at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the department and the plant



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk to electrical shock
  • Frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
