Position Summary

Murrey's Disposal is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and monthly close activities at our Fife, WA location. This role partners closely with operations and leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and timely analysis.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, communicates well with non-financial partners, and enjoys working in a hands-on, operationally focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly close activities, including preparing financial statements for assigned operating locations
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses comparing actual results to budget and forecast
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of short-term financial forecasts
  • Support rate analysis and review activities
  • Communicate financial information clearly to operational and management partners
  • Manage the flow of accounting data between local and remote facilities
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Provide basic financial training and support to non-financial staff as needed
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in a multi-location or operationally focused business
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams
