Overview

The EHS Safety, Health & Data Analytics Sr. Specialist will provide expert EHS support across all EHS groups and operational organizations to ensure all work activities are performed safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Company policies and procedures. This role serves as a trusted advisor, mentor, and field support liaison between all EHS sections and Operating groups, supporting the Companys commitment to EHS excellence, zero harm, and 100% compliance.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide support, advice, counsel and information on EHS matters to all levels across the enterprise.
  • Support the development of a customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers and improve value for all company employees.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor to local EHS departments, partnering closely with field and support teams to integrate EHS requirements into daily work practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between regulators, local EHS departments and operational teams to support consistent implementation of EHS programs, expectations, and controls.
  • Respond to and lead/support incident investigations and analyses related to operating errors, employee injuries and motor vehicle collisions.
  • Design, execute, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and training to ensure safe work practices and regulatory compliance, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard evaluations, Energy-Based Safety (EBS) reviews, near-miss reporting, and incident investigations.
  • Support field assessments with local EHS departments to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards and mitigate risk to all company employees.
  • Lead and direct innovative safety initiatives and projects to enhance overall safety and risk management within the organization.
  • Evaluate and analyze safety performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Initiate and disseminate expert communications on EHS issues between all organizational levels. Ensure that EH&S information is accurately and efficiently disseminated to operating field groups.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three years relevant experience or
  • Associate's Degree and a minimum of five years relevant experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of eight years relevant experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Working knowledge of Federal, state and local regulations as pertinent to electric, gas, and steam utility work as well as relevant requirements, guidelines, and industry consensus standards, required.
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple work assignments, changing priorities, and meeting deadlines, required.
  • Must be highly motivated and committed to delivering excellence in the area of EHS and must recognize the critical importance of teamwork, required.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and experience of practices in construction, utility line construction and maintenance, heavy manufacturing; demolition, and/or street infrastructure work, required.
  • Must demonstrate experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis, report writing and documentation, and corrective actions identification and implementation, required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Other: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Preferred
  • Other: Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Preferred
Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
