The Facility Services Manager plans, organizes and monitors the receiving, storage and distribution of all items received from vendors, donors or TSA locations, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so supplies are located and distributed to proper departments or locations in an effective and efficient manner to facilitate smooth operation of programs. Oversees safety and security functions, and maintenance of the building and property.

About the role:



  • Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the warehouse and receiving functions in a safe, effective manner. Ensures there is appropriate equipment and racking to safely transport and store all materials. Researches material handling equipment and recommends purchase based on performance, safety, reliability and cost.
  • Coordinates all ongoing and preventative maintenance for interior and exterior of building and property, including fleet vehicles. Works with DHQ on capital improvements to secure bids and assess options. Orders janitorial and warehouse supplies when necessary.
  • Develops and implements a system to effectively and efficiently manage the process for scheduling pickups and deliveries of supplies and donations for various programs and operations, coordinating as needed with DHQ, Corps locations, ARC and/or Milwaukee Social Services Program staff. Drives as necessary to ensure these pickups or deliveries happen timely.
  • Receives materials into the receiving area; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received. Resolves discrepancies with supervisor and/or accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports. Manages the flow of paperwork from receiving, and ensures timely data entry. Moves material from the receiving area to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
  • Plans and implements personnel safety procedures and warehouse protection activities, and trains warehouse staff and volunteers in these procedures as applicable.
  • Trains warehouse staff in OSHA compliant forklift safety training.
  • Ensures general security of the property, performing security checks at least twice daily: in the morning to open the facility, and in the evening to close the facility.
  • Develops and implements systems to ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. Manages inventories (including food and in-kind donations) within the warehouse.
  • Develops and recommends annual budget requirements for the warehouse. Anticipates and requests funding for future personnel and equipment requirements.
  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout. Assists with logistical planning and implementation of onsite events (Feed the Kids, Toy Shop, Coats for Kids, etc).
  • Coordinates with various Salvation Army programs regarding volunteer coverage for the warehouse and the activities occurring there. Supervises volunteers and community service workers assigned to the warehouse.
  • Manages the telecommunication function, coordinating with Property or IT to resolve issues
  • Ensures the maintenance and cleanliness of food service equipment, and keeps walk-in coolers and freezers organized and clean.
  • Ensures compliance with the Health Department's food safety standards for storage of perishable foods.
  • Ensures proper waste disposal and recycling of materials.
  • Responds to emergency service calls and alarms for facility security and/or maintenance.


Education: Associate degree with technical training in plant engineering or factory/plant maintenance.

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:



  • OSHA certified trainer for forklift training or obtain within 30 days of hire
  • ServSafe Certification or obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with clearance to drive from TSA's insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to pass and complete DOT physical.
