Desk Developer

Genesis10 is seeking a Desk Developer Role for a contract, possible perm position with a financial services company located in New York, NY. This is a hybrid opportunity, requiring 4 days in the office.

Summary:
Genesis10 is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a leading European investment bank in hiring a mid-level Desk Developer to work closely with Front Office trading team, Interest Rate Desk. The role focuses on enhancing, remediating, and supporting Excel-based pricing tools used on the trading desk, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and fit for ongoing business use.This is a highly interactive role requiring strong collaboration with Traders, Quants, and Technology teams.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance and maintain Excel-based pricing models used by the trading desk
• Remediate legacy spreadsheets to improve performance, stability, and usability
• Work directly with Traders to understand requirements and translate these into practical solutions
• Partner with Quant teams to ensure pricing logic and models are correctly implemented
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for desk tools and pricing sheets
• Improve documentation, controls, and governance around Excel-based models
• Contribute to the gradual evolution of tools where appropriate (e.g. integration with Python or other technologies)

Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on Excel development experience (advanced formulas, VBA; Python beneficial)
• Experience working in Front Office / trading environments within Financial Services
• Understanding of pricing models and financial products (equities, derivatives or similar preferred)
• Proven ability to work directly with business users (Traders) in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise across business and Quant teams
• Experience remediating or supporting legacy spreadsheet-based tools

Desirable

• Exposure to Python or other scripting languages
• Experience working alongside Quant teams or implementing quantitative models
• Knowledge of model governance / controls within a banking environment
