Description

Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Marketing/Proposal Specialist in our growth-oriented engineering, environmental consulting, and construction firm serving our Western Business Unit's Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Western Canada) Area. The position is ideal for candidates with a passion for strategic business development, compelling writing, and creative thinking. We are looking for candidates who are self-driven, curious, efficient with deadlines, and able to work effectively with diverse teams of engineers, marketers, and design staff to create persuasive content and standout deliverables.

The Sr. Marketing role entails completing challenging assignments independently and performing sophisticated marketing tasks. It involves playing a lead role on higher-level marketing or sales pursuits. This role requires minimal supervision with significant latitude for independent judgment. The position uses advanced skills to establish innovative techniques or strategies as well as be involved in teaching less-experienced team members and supporting supervisors. The role plays a key role in helping to advance key clients and pursuits, as well as contributing to action planning, strategy development, and participating in regional growth initiatives to win new work and grow new and existing services. The position offers creative and effective solutions in focused and efficient client development; competitive, persuasive, and winning proposals; efficient and effective maintenance of overall sales/marketing information; and leadership of company/Area growth initiatives.

Responsibilities



  • Work with CSMs and teams to ensure overall client development action plans are created, executed, and updated.
  • Lead sales and marketing process to prioritize and position for multiple concurrent pursuits. The process includes managing and assisting directly with strategy development, writing, formatting, and editing/review to ensure persuasive messages and production. Facilitate process and provide input to Go/No Go decisions.
  • Work with key business leaders and marketing staff to implement area, regional and company growth initiatives, and contributes to company marketing process improvements, event planning, and branding. Provide event planning support for priority conferences. Coordinates with marketing communications professionals on branding initiatives.
  • Lead team in updating, creating, and maintaining all regularly used proposal materials. Use systems and tools to share debrief information and best products.
  • Contribute to strategic messaging, effectively communicating the organization's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Conduct in-depth competitor research and analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop and implement client development strategies to drive growth.
  • Manage funnel data, closely monitoring and maintaining the sales funnel.
  • Maintain marketing information systems, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Plan and execute conference engagement strategies and marketing-related events, ensuring the organization is well-represented at industry events.
  • Actively participate in interview coaching and development, providing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.


Mentorship



  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.


Skills & Competencies



  • Advanced knowledge in marketing strategies, data management, and sales funnel maintenance.
  • Strong proficiency in competitor research, analysis and strategic messaging.
  • Skilled in leading complex proposal and marketing tasks with limited oversight and guidance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for effective interview coaching and development.
  • Expertise in conference engagement planning and maintaining marketing information systems.


Experience



  • Typically, a minimum of 6 years related work experience inclusive of proposal development and sales funnel management.
  • Experience in conference engagement planning and client development strategies.
  • Previous track record of handling difficult assignments independently.
  • Proven experience in a lead role and possessing the ability to perform advanced marketing support tasks.


Education



  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, business or a related field is required.


Preferred Experience:





    • Experience in engineering, environmental, architectural, and/or construction field is a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with emphasis on superior persuasive writing and presentation ability. Experience coaching others in interviews/presentations preferred.
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently as well as in team environments, often under tight deadline situations.
    • Highly skilled in persuasive writing.
    • Ability to identify key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data.
    • Proficient Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • InDesign experience preferred.
    • Travel up to 10%




Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $31.00 - $42.60/hr.

Location B: $34.10 - $46.90/hr.

Location C: $37.20 - $51.10/hr.
