Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff SW Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, Texas to:
- Contribute to brainstorming, design, and architecture of new solutions.
- Design code and systems that touch almost 40% of the world population while influencing Visa's internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability.
- Develop robust and scalable architectural solutions, considering integrations across Visa's technical ecosystem.
- Perform proof of concepts and technical evaluations on new technologies and designs.
- Develop and test applications using cutting-edge AI tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and proprietary solutions.
- Deliver new product features end-to-end, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
- Apply sound engineering practices to improve business outcomes and enhance product quality.
- Execute exploratory testing and accept new features/releases as part of a story-driven Agile development process.
- Develop performance test plans and strategies to ensure products meet performance standards.
- Acquire and implement performance testing tools and frameworks to validate product performance.
- Refactor existing software to improve maintainability and scalability.
- Leverage innovative technologies to build next-generation Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later solutions.
- Actively contribute to product quality improvements and new business flows within agile squads.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their potential adoption to maintain competitive advantage.
- Mentor team members and conduct project-level design reviews to ensure successful project delivery.
- Lead product development with cross-functional teams including engineering leads, product managers, architects, and client support teams.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and project managers to drive feature grooming, user story development, workflow designs, and use cases.
- Provide domain expertise for user documentation and implement standard processes for consistency and clarity.
- Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science or related fieldand 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a SW Engineer-related occupation.
- Position requires experience in the following:
- Expertise in at least one general development language (e.g., Java, C#, or C++).
- Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability.
- Knowledge of SQL, No-SQL databases, and data streaming/queuing technologies like AMQ and Kafka.
- Experience with container-based technologies and performance testing frameworks/tools (e.g., Jmeter, Loadrunner, or VuGen).
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript UI frameworks such as React, Redux, and Angular JS.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and exposure to container-based technologies.
- Solid understanding of secure coding practices and expertise in mitigating security vulnerabilities.
- Familiarity with monitoring and telemetry tools like Splunk, Aternity, and Grafana.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux and working in a shell environment.
Additional Information
Worksite: Austin, Texas This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs. Travel Requirements:This position does not require travel. Mental/Physical Requirements:This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
