College Launch Summer Counselors Requisition ID: 2026-10095 # of Openings: 4 Location: US-UT-Blanding Category: Student Programs & Services Position Type: Temporary Part-Time Job Classification: Non-Benefited College: Statewide Campuses Department: SW Campuses RES-Blanding Advertised Salary: $3,700 to be paid over 4 weeks of work Overview USU Blanding Campus is accepting applications for candidates to serve as counselors/tutors to participants in the 2025 College Launch Summer Program. This 4-week comprehensive programs offer assistance to recently graduated high school seniors in academic subjects such as Math, Geology, Public Speaking, and College Preparation. Counselors are required to live in the residence hall and will mentor and tutor participants on a daily basis. Room and board will be provided along with a salary of $3,700 for the four weeks. Summer employment begins May 23, 2026 and continues through June 20, 2026. Any scheduling conflicts must be discussed and approved in advance. Responsibilities Assist College Launch (CL) participants in improving academic achievement either in a group or individually by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Must be able to tutor participants in Math, Geology, Public Speaking, and/or College Preparation courses. Assist participants with financial aid applications and scholarships. Monitor attendance and academic performance of participants on a daily basis. Meet with CL Director regularly to ascertain participants' progress and address any concerns. Enforce the rules and regulations of the USU Blanding Campus and CL Program. Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of enrichment activities. Maintain a productive, positive attitude and confidentiality with other counselors, instructors, and CL staff. Any other duties as assigned by the CL Director. Must adhere to the USU travel and driving policies. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Must have completed at least 24 credits of college work at the time of application. Must possess the ability to handle high levels of stress. Employees are expected to be available for full-time work between Saturday, May 23 - Saturday, June 20, 2026. Any scheduling conflicts must be discussed and approved in advance. Preferred Qualifications Experience in conducting team building and other group activities. Experience working with high school students. Bilingual in Navajo or Spanish. Bachelor's degree in any Educational field. Preference given to applicants with working knowledge of TRIO programs and/or experience working in College Launch.
