The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a PLS-CADD Senior Specialist to help elevate the quality and consistency of transmission design across our organization. As part of our Product Operations team, you will play a key role in strengthening operational standards, supporting project delivery teams, and ensuring best practices are applied across our Transmission and Distribution portfolio.

In this role, you'll partner closely with engineers and designers to provide advanced technical guidance, support user adoption, and promote consistent use of PLS-CADD on greenfield and rebuild transmission projects ranging from 115 kV to 345 kV. You'll work across both owner-led and EPC-led projects, helping teams solve complex challenges and deliver high-quality results.

What You Will Do

SOFTWARE



  • Drive adoption and use of the PLS-CADD software suite, including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and deployment customization.
  • Create, implement, and manage internal PLS-CADD standards.
  • Support integration initiatives with related software such as FAD, AutoCAD, and MicroStation for project delivery.
  • Evaluate new project delivery-related features, including PLS-GRID, and make recommendations to enhance productivity and project performance.
  • Promote the use of efficiency and integration tools to improve digital workflows.


STANDARDS



  • Establish and maintain PLSCADD standards, templates, and libraries to ensure consistent project setup, including ownership of design documentation, training, implementation, enforcement, and change management.
  • Drive creation and ongoing maintenance of model templates, standard pole models, .cri, .fea, and .prt files, and component libraries.
  • Co-leads development and support of internal PLS-CADD design companion tools.
  • Partners with the QA/QC team assist in evaluation of and increasing adherence to the company standards of project documentation.
  • Work with and/or lead various committees to contribute to strategy, facilitate initiative delivery, best practices, and implementation of PLS-CADD across all offices.
  • Create standards of documentation and material for ease of adoption across all offices.


MANAGEMENT



  • Partner closely with leadership and project teams within the Transmission & Distribution department, ensuring needs are met.
  • Create written technology evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption aligned with corporate goals.
  • Maintain feedback channels to continuously improve and enhance project delivery and PLS-CADD standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for transmission line design delivery using the PLS-CADD Software Suite.


TRAINING



  • Provide fundamental, intermediate, and advanced training on software processes, best practices, and use cases.
  • Conduct internal continuing education training sessions.
  • Facilitate technical orientation for new hires.
  • Create training documentation and material for ease of adoption across all offices.
  • Incorporate learning from conferences, seminars, and workshops related to PLS-CADD into company standards and training.


PROJECT INTERFACE



  • Assist project teams in PLS-CADD project setup, execution planning, and advanced technical guidance.
  • Support project/client standards and coordination with customers.
  • Provide limited hands-on project modeling or detailing support as needed.
  • Serve as a support escalation point between users or the IT help desk and Power Line Systems for complex issues


Education:



  • An associate's degree in drafting, architectural, engineering design, or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering preferred.


What We Expect from You:



  • Minimum of 7 years of experience or equivalent utilizing the PLS-CADD software suite preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent in a CAD leadership role, including process and standards development.
  • Advanced expertise within PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE is required.
  • Experience in the Transmission & Distribution industry is required.
  • Strong computer, technical, and communication skills are required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation software is preferred.
  • Experience with project delivery software such as ProjectWise is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GIS, LiDAR, and surveying preferred.
  • Ability to seek out and resolve issues through close interaction with other project team members.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for teaching, coaching, and training.
  • Programming, scripting, or automation experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

    Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $93,800 - $126,900
