Position Title: Travel Cytotechnologist

Work Location: Boston, MA (Onsite)

Address: 800 Washington Street, Boston, MA, USA

Assignment Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cytotechnologist (Traveler) to support Anatomic Histology at an academic medical center. This role involves performing routine and advanced cytological testing to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment



  • Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens



  • Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens



  • Perform Pap smear screenings and general cytology analysis



  • Identify abnormalities and consult with pathologists for final diagnosis



  • Collect, prepare, and analyze specimens, including microorganism identification



  • Perform ThinPrep processing of cytology specimens



  • Perform Microcyte processing of cytology specimens



  • Perform ThinPrep processing of UroVysion specimens



  • Conduct Pap staining and coverslipping of cytology slides



  • Analyze and document test results using charts, graphs, and written reports



  • Support laboratory operations, including oversight of prep lab if required



  • May assist with patient bedside specimen evaluation




Qualifications & Experience:




  • Bachelor's degree in Science (required)



  • ASCP Cytotechnologist certification (required)



  • ThinPrep certification (preferred)



  • Strong experience in Pap smear screening and general cytology



  • Ability to pass a 10-slide screening test and annual CAP proficiency testing



  • Prior experience in clinical or academic laboratory settings preferred




Additional Requirements:




  • Traveler candidates only (local candidates will not be considered)



  • Negative THC screen required



  • Color vision screening required




Work Environment:




  • Onsite role at an academic medical center



  • Collaborative environment with pathologists and laboratory teams
