Our leading financial client is seeking a seasoned Email and Marketing Automation Consultant to help elevate our enterprise email program and optimize how we engage audiences across automated and triggered journeys. This role is ideal for someone who brings deep expertise in email performance, lifecycle strategy, lead generation optimization, personalization, and journey-based communications. The right candidate knows how to translate business goals into effective email programs, advise partners on what drives engagement and conversion, and improve customer experiences across complex automated journeys. This individual will serve as a strategic consultant to internal partners, helping shape high-impact email programs from intake through optimization. They will be expected to lead recommendations on email best practices, journey design, testing strategy, and personalization opportunities, while partnering closely with technical and operational teams responsible for platform build and enablement. Success in this position comes from strong consultation skills, journey thinking, audience empathy, performance fluency, and the ability to work effectively across creative, business, CRM, and technical stakeholders. This person should be comfortable engaging directly with stakeholders, shaping strategy, and improving performance in complex enterprise environments. What this role will own:
- Consult with business partners on journey-based email strategy, with a strong focus on triggered communications, lifecycle moments, lead generation, and conversion optimization
- Step into large-scale automated programs and provide actionable recommendations to improve performance, personalization, content strategy, and customer experience
- Develop email plans that align business goals, audience needs, journey logic, KPIs, testing strategy, and measurement approach
- Advise on email best practices across messaging hierarchy, CTA strategy, dynamic content, interactive design, mobile experience, accessibility, deliverability-aware design, and personalization
- Evaluate campaign and journey proposals through the lens of audience experience, operational feasibility, and expected business impact
- Partner with creative, digital, CRM, and martech teams to ensure campaigns are designed and delivered as connected experiences
- Identify optimization opportunities within existing automated journeys, including nurture programs, lead follow-up, onboarding, re-engagement, and other triggered communications
- Translate performance data into clear recommendations that improve engagement, lead quality, and downstream outcomes
- Support experimentation and continuous improvement through structured A/B testing and iterative journey enhancements
- Act as a strong client-facing consultant who can guide stakeholders, challenge requests when needed, and bring forward better solutions
- Collaborate with technical resources to define requirements for segmentation, personalization, automation logic, forms, landing pages, or CRM-connected workflows
- Recognize when technical solutions such as AMPscript, SQL, CRM updates, or automation changes are needed and partner with the appropriate specialists to implement
This is not a technical or dev role! What we are NOT looking for:
- Deep AMPscript expertise
- Advanced SQL development
- Heavy JavaScript or Python
- Solution architecture depth
- Pure platform administration background
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, CRM marketing, marketing automation consulting, or digital campaign strategy
- Demonstrated success optimizing triggered, journey-based, and nurture email programs
- Strong knowledge of email best practices, including messaging strategy, content hierarchy, personalization, testing, design, UX, mobile responsiveness, and performance optimization
- Experience using data and campaign results to recommend improvements to email programs and customer journeys
- Experience consulting with internal clients or external clients in an agency, enterprise, or shared-services environment
- Strong ability to lead conversations with stakeholders, clarify ambiguous requirements, and translate business needs into actionable campaign recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong understanding of lead generation and conversion-focused email strategy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high bar for quality and customer experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience supporting or optimizing campaigns within Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM-connected journeys, including audience segmentation, behavioral triggers, and lifecycle progression
- Experience with personalization strategy, dynamic content, and audience-based messaging
- Understanding of how forms, landing pages, CRM workflows, and automation logic connect to the broader journey experience
- Ability to speak credibly about technical concepts such as AMPscript, SQL, automation workflows, and Salesforce data structures, even if not acting as the primary hands-on builder
- Financial services or regulated industry experience preferred
- Experience working in highly cross-functional environments with creative, compliance, CRM, analytics, and martech teams

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $60 to $63. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. #LI-MH1
